My name is Zinia King, I’m an Australian illustrator/artist with a mission to inspire creativity and curiosity around the natural world.
Australian Flora and Fauna
I’m super passionate about the environment and often depict Australian flora and fauna in my artwork. There are so many beautiful Australian plants and animals that a lot of the population don’t know. One of my missions is to share the beauty of these creatures so that we might make more of an effort for protect them. I donate $5 from every one of my Australian Animal A-Z Books to the Bob Brown Foundation, who do fantastic work protecting native forests and the environment.

A Dose of Whimsy
Another great passion of mine is spreading the joy of art with people of all ages. I’m a firm believer that art is for everyone and that we’re all born with creative abundance. In this world of instant gratification, the art of slowing down and finding one’s self in a creative flow is more and more important. I wish to inspire people to go outside and appreciate the natural world through a lens of curiosity and whimsy. The benefits of leaning into your creative side are vast, it will do wonders for your mental health.

Home and Garden
I am so lucky to be living in the beautiful Adelaide Hills (South Australia) in a small ‘do-er upper’ house with a little paddock. Since getting the keys in September 2023, we’ve had lots of work to do and have really started to make the house our own. Before buying the house, my partner and I housesat for about ten years and I was unable to keep a veggie garden. My vegetable garden brings me endless amounts of joy and I feel wonderfully healthy from all the spinach I’m eating and fresh air exercise. I’ve still got lots to learn and I would love it if you would join me in my journey also in the A Dose of Whimsy section of my Substack.
