Your Monthly Dose of Whimsy #7
Learning through play, dancing rays and moments of awe.
Hello again lovely people and welcome to another ‘Dose of Whimsy’ instalment. In this monthly post I share all of my whimsical arty play and creative thoughts. 😊
Apologies for missing the last instalment, I had a lot to talk about trip to Singapore instead. You can read all about it here.
Awe in Singapore
I just recently got back from the most wonderful week in Singapore. My partner was working over there, so I took advantage of the free accomodation and set about exploring the unique city.
Nature Journal
We’re well and truly in Autumn now, and my journal is reflecting the change of season with more rich orange and purple hues popping up from page to page. I’m enjoying reflecting on the little special moments of each day in the book. It’s a reminder that there is always beauty to be found no matter what your mood. I’ve also been writing a reflection sentence every day of the stand out awe (or moment of joy) that I find every day.

A Drawing a Day 2025
I’m loving looking back at these daily drawings to inspire me in creating larger artworks. I’m only posting a few of my favourites from the past couple of months here, but I’m thinking I might release a little zine at the end of the year with all of the drawings. Let me know in the comments if you’d be interested in a book of doodles.

The Simple Things
The dancing of sunlight as it comes through a window never fails to bring me joy. Perhaps it’s the wonderful optimism of a sunny day touching the indoor space or simply the happy movements of the rays themselves. Whatever the case, here is a photo of warm rays on my wall this morning.
Learning and Play
I had the loveliest time joining
’s art class the other day on loose landscape painting. It was delightfully challenging to create a landscape without a reference image and I thoroughly enjoyed the process. What new thing will you learn this month?Limericks by Edward Lear
There was an Old Man of Coblenz,
The length of whose legs was immense;
He went with one prance
From Turkey to France,
That surprising Old Man of Coblenz.
