Hello again lovely people and welcome you another ‘Dose of Whimsy’ instalment. In this monthly post I share all my whimsical arty play that I don’t share anywhere else. 😊
This month has been full of travel and wonder. I’ve done a lot of nature journaling and prioritising being creative despite the heat (we’ve had a bit of a drought and heat wave here in South Australia). Since my last post I’ve enjoyed numerous little getaways including:
Camping with friends at Lake Alexandrina (gorgeous wetlands with many birds).
A day and night at Sellicks Beach with friends (this has to be one of the nicest beaches in Adelaide).
A surprise camping adventure to Kangaroo Island with my partner (incredible regrowth after the 2020 fires).
A little housesitting adventure in the suburbs (enjoying the pool and night-time alfresco dining of 40 degree days)!
A trip to Melbourne with my sister to visit the Aquarium. (This really reminded me how I don’t like cities, the odours of pollution are so strong especially in the heat).
Enjoy some happy snaps from the trips here and scroll down for my journaling pages.

Nature Journal
My nature journal this month turned a little bit into a travel journal too. I’m also including photos here from my mini-sketchbook that I keep in my bag at all times for moments of art when my larger journal is inaccessible.

I also went to a wedding this month (I think the 5th wedding I’ve attended in 31 years)! It was a lovely day for my Uncle-in-law and his new wife Sue. I came away with some flowers from the wedding, so of course I had to challenge myself to draw them.

A Drawing a Day 2025
This habit of doodling in the morning with a cup of tea as I plan my day is so grounding and gently wakes me up in a joyous way.

Limericks by Edward Lear
There was an Old Person of Ischia,
Whose conduct grew friskier and friskier;
He danced hornpipes and jigs,
And ate thousands of figs,
That lively Old Person of Ischia.
