Hello wonderful humans! Welcome to your first mid-monthly dose of whimsy for the year. I hope you’re happy and well. I love January, the newness of the New Year with all its fresh ideas and plans. This year I’ve decided to step away from so much teaching and focus on improving my skills in all mediums. Imposter syndrome is very real and I’d like to get really proficient in a variety of art styles before I go back to teaching so much again. Also, play is so much fun and something we don’t prioritise enough as Adults.
I have to admit, I’ve been on a few Domestika binge purchasing sessions in the past and have quite a few classes to get through. My goal for this year is to actually do all of the classes that I’ve bought! The delightful
and I have been having regular painting sessions together to keep each other accountable and prioritise learning. Here is light-filled landscape I did with Bec yesterday from a class with Katarzyna Kmiecik plus some doodles I did alongside.

A Drawing a Day 2025
I adore simply putting pen to paper and just seeing what my brain comes up with. To make sure that I incorporate even just a little touch of wild creativity into my days this year I’ve decided to doodle every day in my diary. Here are a few of the doodles so far. At the end of the year I might put a book together with all the artworks.

Nature Journal
Noticing nature using my journal is truly one of my favourite things. I even clocked over the New Year (after returning from a lovely dinner with friends) in my bed drawing in my journal.
and I spent a delightful cold afternoon sketching the animals at Cleland Wildlife Park. I got membership and intend to spend at least one day a month sketching at Cleland.

Limericks by Edward Lear
There was an Old Man of the West,
Who never could get any rest;
So they set him to spin
On his nose and chin,
Which cured that Old Man of the West.
