Today is my daughter’s 1 week birthday. Wow, that seems pretty surreal to write. This week has been a huge whirlwind of emotions, I feel as though I’ve lived an entire lifetime since Nina was born and everything has shifted in my brain. I am so full of love for this tiny little human, but also for everything and everyone around me. An Eastern Spinebill feeding on our salvia plant the other day even brought be to tears. We’ve been enjoying resting and learning together this week and feeling exceptionally grateful for our cozy little house and fireplace in the depths of winter. I’ll definitely be taking a little break from most parts of my business, but my online shop will stay open if you’re interested in some art from a new Mum!
It’s incredible how much solace I’ve found in creative play and journaling over the past month as I processed big emotions in the lead up to birth. My Dose of Whimsy post from the 8th of June gives an insight to some of that play, and I’ll be sending out another one midway through June. Make sure your subscribed and have checked your email preferences to receive it. 😊
A Dose of Whimsy #9
Hello again lovely people and welcome to another ‘Dose of Whimsy’ instalment. In this monthly post I share all of my whimsical arty play and creative thoughts. 😊Subscribe here if you want this little ‘Dose of Whimsy’ in your mailbox every month.
Art Classes
For obvious reasons, I don’t have any art classes coming up until October where I’ll be teaching flower painting at The Cedars in Hahndorf. Little Nina will likely be with me, so come along if you’d like to paint some flowers and meet my daughter. Book here and if you can’t make it to the full 4-weeks, contact me and I can arrange a discount for you.
If you haven’t realised by now, every month I’ve been posting an Art Class online. They often include step-by-step directions and often other little bonus bits like colouring sheets or PDF prints to print at home. This month I posted an Anthropomorphic Animal Masterclass with a never before released colouring page.
Anthropomorphic Animal Masterclass
In my second year of University in 2014, I created a series of Australian Animal drawings that kicked off my Illustration career. At first I drew them thinking that they would be cool artworks on playing cards, but the illustrations were too detailed for the small format. At the end of 2015 I was invited to take part in my first shared exhibition at the
This coming month, I’ll be releasing a class all about painting this lovely dapper Eastern Spinebill. Subscribers will also receive a colouring-in page so they can follow along at home and a high-quality A4 PDF print.
