How to Draw - Kookaburra
Draw Australia's beloved kookaburra with me. How-to-draw and dot-to-dot sheets provided.
Oh the kookaburra, what would Australia’s soundscape be without them? Follow along with me as we draw the kookaburra step-by-step. All you need is pen and paper, enjoy!
Start with a light pencil sketch. Find the basic shapes that overlap. Keep it simple.
Begin adding extra details, only big shapes. Ensure everything fits together. Erase any lines you don’t need.
Start drawing with your pen. Draw slowly and carefully incorporating any patterns you like along the way. Think about stippling (dots), leaves and flowers, zig zags etc. When complete, erase your pencil lines.
More detail often looks more impressive, so take your time and enjoy the meditative process. Put on some classical music or a podcast and relax.
I’d love to see your creations, please message them though. If you liked the class, why not share it with a friend?
If you enjoyed this little lesson and would like to do more, every month I post at least one art class here on Substack. Paid subscribers will receive a bonus printable PDF sheet with extra tips to print out and say goodbye to the screen. They will also receive a bonus dot-to-dot sheet to share the creation process with a little person in their life. It only costs $5 per month or $50 per year (AUD), why not consider subscribing?
I also teach in person classes around Adelaide (South Australia). Check them out here.
With love and a dose of whimsy,
