At the end of July 2024, my lovely sister and I headed off on a bonding trip to Bali. We’d never been on a trip together before and it was a wonderful excuse to spend some time together. It was wonderful sitting around in different beautiful locations, painting in my sketchbook and chatting to my sister. Here’s a little video tour through the book. Enjoy some snippets from my book with captions.

Our first accomodation was in Uluwatu, a beachside town with lots of influencers and hipsters! There were no footpaths and I found the juxtaposition between fields of cows and very fancy boutique shops quite strange.

Sketching with watercolours in cafes and enjoying the weather was a delight. Acacia and I even joined a local improv group one night and had a blast playing improvisation games with the multicultural locals.

Next stop was Ubud (in the mountains) where we felt much more at home. There was lots of traffic and pollution, but we retreated happily at The Yoga Barn, the Monkey Forest and on a trip to the waterfalls and rice paddies.

I loved the rock carvings everywhere and a huge highlight of the trip fro me was our last day at ARMA (Agung Rai Museum of Art). Such a treat and so much inspiration. I have fallen in love with Indonesian art and am fascinated by the culture. Definitely much more to explore.
