Hello again lovely people and welcome to another ‘Dose of Whimsy’ instalment. In this monthly post I share all of my whimsical arty play and creative thoughts. 😊

Nina Portrait

I couldn’t help but paint this portrait of my daughter with a geraldton wax flower named ‘Nina’s Delight’ which I bought just a few days before she was born. I’m going to print it out and hang it somewhere in the house.

Cassette Cover

My lovely friend (and incredible musician) Dave McEvoy recently visited Takayna in Tasmania on residency with the Bob Brown Foundation. He played a grand piano in the middle of the ancient rainforest and recorded his creations onto a cassette. The cassette is now due to travel around the world visiting important people and spreading awareness of the plight of the Takayna forest. Dave asked me to do a couple of original artworks as cassette sleeves and here is the result, I couldn’t be more pleased!

A Dose of Whimsy Zine

I just sent out my winter ‘Dose of Whimsy’ zines to all of my beautiful ‘Letterbox Legends’ subscribers. If you’re interested in receiving a copy too, I’ll be sending out copies to any new yearly paid subscribers this month. You can also purchase a copy here. All paid subscribers can also read the digital version of the zine at the bottom of this post.

Subscribe here if you want this little ‘Dose of Whimsy’ in your mailbox every month and to receive the physical zine in the mail!

Nature and Life Journal

I really love how my journaling practice is helping me to slow down and truly encapsulate this special time in my life (these newborn days are so special). Knowing that I’m going to write or draw something to do with my day later on makes me notice the whimsy in the world around me to a greater extent.

Premium Folding Techniques

My family band have just released a new single. The song writing process was very fun as we all took turns writing different parts. You can listen to it here, but beware it does get pretty heavy. Of course I did the single art!

Clay Play

Before giving birth, I treated myself to a marbled clay class with my wonderful friend

Rebecca Prince
, then she treated me with a chance to play more in her studio. It was so much fun sculpting with my hands and seeing my doodles come to life!

A Drawing a Day 2025

I’m super keen to take inspiration from these doodles in the future to create more polished artworks, but for now it’s fun just seeing where my imagination takes me.

Speaking of doodles turning into polished artworks, here is an album cover I did a few years ago for Dave McEvoy (the same one who I recently did the cassette tape for). When he wanted some ideas, I was able to show him my sketchbook and work on his favourite doodle for the design. Listen to the album here. Paid subscribers will receive a PDF with a colouring-in sheet and high quality print at the bottom of this email.

From sketch to final artwork.

It would be lovely if you would share my post to someone who you think might need a little dose of whimsy in their mailbox.
